When Did Tv Producers First Allow Actors To Sleep In The Same Bed On Air?

I Herd Back In 1934 When They First Started Airing TV Shows, That They Didn’t Allow Opposite Sex’s Sleep In The Same Bed. If That’s True When Did They First Start Allowing That?

It was true through the 50s as well. If you look at the classic sitcom, I Love Lucy, you’ll notice Lucy and Ricci sleep in separate beds. Actually that was one of the earliest examples of even showing a bedroom of any sort in a TV show.

I don’t think they started showing couples in a single bed until the late 60s. I know the Brady Bunch was able to do this, but even that was considered somewhat racy as they were actually in the center of the bed, as opposed to staying on the edges.

What TV shows do you remember Couples Sleeping in “separate beds?”

1. Dick Van Dyke Show

2. I love Lucy

3. Monsters

We’ve come so far, haven’t we? And we’ve moved so far back in other respects - standards of decency, I mean.
