Scott Berkun: Free download ebook

Greetings: I am promoting Scott Berkun as I am a huge fan of his. The book is really wonderful.

This is a special email for two reasons. First, I’d like to welcome
the 5000+ new subscribers who joined recently as part of the Mindfire
promotion.

Welcome. I hope you like what you find and that you’ll stick around.
These emails are always short and to the point. It’s an easy way
to follow what I’m up to.

Second, it’s only so often I can say this phrase: The new book is out.

The best of an entire decade of my work is now available in one
tightly edited, entertainingly curated and provocatively organized
volume called Mindfire: Big Ideas for Curious Minds. Please give it a
spin and let me know what you think.

1. Mindfire for free: 8 hours left

If you follow me on twitter you know I did something crazy. Mindfire
is currently available for free in all digital formats. All you have
to do is go over here:

http://www.scottberkun.com/blog/2011/mindfire-download-free-for-48-hours/

Since you’re already on the list, just put in the same email address
you use for this list, so you don’t end up being subscribed twice.

If paper is your thing, amazon.com can ship the book to your door
today. Go here: http://amzn.to/mindfires

2. The best of October and beyond

Last month was quiet. Finishing the book absorbed most of my
writing time. But there were a few gems:

How to give a perfect demo
http://www.scottberkun.com/blog/2011/how-to-give-a-perfect-demo/

Is Philosophy the most practical major?
http://www.scottberkun.com/blog/2011/is-philosophy-the-most-practical-major/

Will the E-book kill the footnote?

Why it’s ok to be obvious

3. Join the street team / Fan club

Since Mindfire is self-published, I need help to promote
the book. If you’re a fan, or a friend, or a marketing goddess
who is just plain bored, and would be willing to post a thing
or two to facebook or twitter, or help generate PR in your
network, please join.

http://groups.google.com/group/berkunfan?hl=en

There were be special prizes and thank yous for folks who help out,
including free copies of the book.

4. Please spread the word

If you enjoy something above, leave a comment, share on facebook or
forward to your friends. If you hate something I wrote, forward to your enemies.

I know that before I joined in this challenge I did not get much traffic or comments on my blogs. I did a tutorial provided by wordpress and learned my way around the blogging platform. If I wanted to get traffic and comments than I learned that I had to do it too! With that said, Please let me know if you are a “newbie” and this article helped you or if you are “a friend” blogger just stopping by.

This is your 247th post. Way-out! This post has 384 words.

So, Post a Day and Post a Week participants

how are you and your blog doing?

Regardless of whether or not you started the challenge at the beginning of the year, we’re stoked to see that you guys are blogging regularly, creating awesome content, and making new friends in the blogosphere.

Tell us, when did you start doing Post a Day/Week, and what have you enjoyed most about it so far?

Months and Years In 2011 Jackie Paulson has had the busiest month in JUNE.

I also registered my own Domain called postadaychallenge2011.com to keep me in check to post a day! I have added this below so that others can click on the links in order to do the same and see how 5.00 gives you the glory of your own Domain Name by WordPress.com.

I have learned how to use all of the features here on WordPress by watching their own video tutorials. I have enjoyed the interaction that Scott Berkun has had with all of us commentors. I am in hope that in 2012 that we continue to build our friendships and a new challenge is added.

The only question I have is What in the world are Webhooks? Does anyone know? I just don’t understand that?!!

Thank you to all of my loyal commentors and followers. I have learned so much from reading each of your posts. I also started to like the Photo of the week challenge. I am learning how to use my camera and how to do video’s. I did my first video yesterday here: http://postadaychallenge2011.com/2011/08/29/my-first-video-book-review/

How’s your blog coming along? I love to blog and just decided to change it to just the challenge of post a day 2011. I was going to add book reviews and such but my comments went down. I am now back to just this challenge and moved my book blogs to another blog if you are interested: http://getreadingnow.wordpress.com/

What’s been your favorite part of the challenge? My favorite part of the challenge is learning from other bloggers and making new friends who I plan to keep for a lifetime.

Is there anything you want to see more (or less) of here at The Daily Post? I am really happy with the challenge and wouldn’t change a thing.

May you all be blessed each day as it is God’s will for each of you.

Topic #83: On fire for the Lord

Brought to you by Plinky.com:

What’s the most on fire you’ve ever been? Figuratively, literally, whatever.

What’s the most on fire you’ve ever been?

**********************************************************************************************

Good afternoon or evening; I will not take up much of your time as I just got off work (yes on Sundays I work).

I am beyond tired. I did want to share with you that when I accepted The Lord into my heart and life back

in 1990 was the most “on fire” I have ever been. I went out and bought a NIV bible I could udnerstand. I took

my bible with me everywhere, I taught what I was learning. I went to bible study groups sevearal times a week.

Here it is 2011 and I can say I am still on fire for the Lord, but I remember being a newbie christian and it was the

best time of my life learning.

FREE CREDIT REPORTS

It is so easy for Illinois residents to track their credit histories. Did you know that you can obtain a free copy of your credit report ONCE a YEAR for FREE?

You can request a copy from:

  1. Experian
  2. TransUnion
  3. Equifax

The reason why it is so important to check your report is mostly to protect you from identity theft and ensure that your financial information is up to date and accurate. Just an FYI: I used Lexington Law Firm to try to fix some things on my credit and to no avail. It was a horrible decision and they did not do ONE THING FOR ME. I paid a ton of money for six months for Nothing!

What to look for:

  1. Inaccurate personal information like your first name, middle I, and last name.
  2. Address, social security number.
  3. Accounts listed incorrectly as Open, delinquent or in collections.
  4. Credit accounts, Bankruptcies, tax liens, and other judgments that do not belong to you or are out of date exceed the Statute of Limitations for your State.

Ok, so you want to order your Free credit report for free today?

Their is one web site and a toll free number and address from which to order your report.

You can contact them at: www.annualcreditreport.com or call 1-877-322-8228

Post #61 The Great Tag Experiment

Tag You are It

March 2, 2011 Tags

This is a peek into what people on WordPress.com are talking about this very instant. It only includes recent activity, so it should change quite a bit over time. Click on any word to see the most recent posts under each tag or category.

The news seems to be the most popular tag out into the world of wordpress.com tags.

Music brings words to life and tags with music create a rolling ball.

Life has it’s ups and downs and trying to stay positive is everyone’s challenge~

Politics are just that politics.

Photography is pictures in words, expressions without words.

Travel seems popular but not something I enjoy doing but tag it for travel lovers.

Art is wonderful as we seek out new “Picasso” like-artists.

Food and Events go together as the television praises all the new things being made at home mothers and father.

This is as far as I can go, mentioning all those tags. :)

This is an experiment I think I failed.

Post It Now: Meaning behind your name

Take this simple quiz: Find the meaning of your name, then go to comments and post it!

Here is mine: Jacqueline

http://www.blogthings.com/whatsyournameshiddenmeaningquiz/

You Are Level-Headed and Trustworthy

You are fair, honest, and logical. You are a natural leader, and people respect you.

You never give up, and you will succeed… even if it takes you a hundred tries.

You are rational enough to see every part of a problem. You are great at giving other people advice.

You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic “Type A” personality.

You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily.

You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind.

A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable.

People see you as a complete enigma, and only you truly understand who you are.

You spend most of your time introspecting and seeking truth.

You’re a very interesting person… but not many people know you enough to realize it.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.

And because you’re so lucky, you don’t really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.

You’re sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.

You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.

At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.

You are light hearted and accepting. You don’t get worked up easily.

Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It’s easy to get you excited… which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don’t stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.

You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.

You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

This is really a great post of summing it all up.

10 Sleeping Problems in adults

In today’s Topic #56 brought to you by Plinky (http://www.plinky.com); “What keeps you up at night?”

I can't sleep

1. The loud Stormy Weather causes me to have sleeping problems as an adult.

2. My mind races about what happened during the day.

3. I have to finish a book I want to read before work the next day.

5. I am addicted to the internet; and it’s quiet at night; which keeps me awake.

6. Sleeping problems in aduts are very common especially as we get older and I am and adult.

7. Worring about this or that keeps me up at night, I get out a notebook and record my thoughts but find I still have sleeping problems.

8. When I am sick, sleeping is useless unless I am on some type of over the counter drug.

9. When my teenager is up all night on the weekends, talking, texting, or on the internet; the noise level keeps me awake where sleep problems happen.

10. Sleeping Problems in adults can be caused by so many different things; I choose to pray away the stress.

Has anyone else noticed that the blogs for the tag for postaday2011 aren’t advancing through all the pages?

Some of them seem to get stuck around page 5 and never show up again and some of the blogs listed on page 5 get repeated for several pages after that.

For what it’s worth this page with the vodka bottle is appearing on several pages at this time.

http://en.wordpress.com/tag/postaday2011/8/

This isn’t the first time I’ve noticed this.

I have noticed this too

Freshly Pressed: Valentine’s Day Clearance Sale

Valentine’s Day Clearance Sale.

Some years ago I took a class that focused on self-actualization through meditation, astral projection, past life regression, and the like.

During the last class, the teacher told me I was the most self-defeating person she ever met.

I laughed it off, figuring my tradition of showing up drunk to the Friday afternoon session irked her, or maybe my chakras were out of alignment.

Now that I’m unemployed and in my 30s, I wonder if she was on to something.

Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed – I enjoyed your post about interviews. I have written a few posts on the same subject, including my suggestions on how NOT to interview people! Job hunting – which I have to do at the moment – is my least fun activity in the world. Good luck with your search!
