How much debt is too much?

Topic #206:

How much debt is too much?

The average American has $16k in debt, down from $35k in 2008. The ability to borrow money is important in all economies, but borrowing more than you can pay causes all kinds of problems (as the various debt crises around the world expose). How much debt is ok? How much debt is too much? How do you decide for yourself when its warranted to go into debt to achieve something? What’s a story you can share about borrowing something, perhaps money or time, from someone else?

Pasted from <http://dailypost.wordpress.com/>

I think we all know the definiton of debt:

debt - the state of owing something (especially money); “he is badly in debt”

financial obligation, indebtedness, liability - an obligation to pay money to another party

  2. debt - money or goods or services owed by one person to another

liabilities - anything that is owed to someone else

arrears - an unpaid overdue debt

national debt - the debt of the national government (as distinguished from the debts of individuals and businesses and political subdivisions)

public debt - the total of the nation’s debts: debts of local and state and national governments; an indicator of how much public spending is financed by borrowing instead of taxation

debt ceiling, debt limit - the maximum borrowing power of a governmental entity

bad debt - a debt that is unlikely to be repaid

installment debt - debt to be paid by installments

loan - the temporary provision of money (usually at interest)

principal - the original amount of a debt on which interest is calculated

score - an amount due (as at a restaurant or bar); “add it to my score and I’ll settle later”

  3. debt - an obligation to pay or do something

obligation - a legal agreement specifying a payment or action and the penalty for failure to comply

“Some debts are fun when you are acquiring them, but none are fun when you set about retiring them.”

“Good times are when people make debts to pay in bad times.”

-Louie Anderson

“The man who never has money enough to pay his debts has too much of something else.”

-James Lendall Basford

“I’m in debt. I am a true American.”

-Balki Bartokomous

Proverbs, Sayings, and Unknown

“He who promises runs in debt.”

-The Talmud

“It is poor judgment to countersign another’s note, to become responsible for his debts.”

-Bible

Debts are like children: the smaller they are the more noise they make.”

-Spanish Proverb

“Interest on debts grow without rain.”

-Yiddish Proverb

“There are four things every person has more of than they know; sins, debt, years, and foes.”

-Persian Proverb

“The only man who sticks closer to you in adversity than a friend is a creditor.”

“Before borrowing money from a friend, decide which you need most.”

Topic #191 Letter to Myself

Write a short letter to yourself, to be read one year from now

Topic #191:

Write a short letter to yourself, to be read one year from now.

You don’t have to post the entire letter, but you do have to a) write it

b) post about what surprised you the most about what you wrote, or whether you found the experience interesting or not.

And don’t forget to set a reminder in your calendar to read it in one year.

Since today is July 17, 2012-I want to thank myself for the courage and strength to take all of the risks that I did last year. 2011 was very inspirational, I started my new business at http://thewritershelp.wordpress.com/ and it has blessed me beyond what I could of asked for.

I have met a new (TRIBE of inspirational friends that I talk with each week and pray with). Thank you Tribe- you know who you are!

I am so glad Tracie and I have reconnected and others from my past; all of you have helped and inspired me more than I can express.

Once the blogging challenge with wordpress was over with wordpress.com and post a day challenge in 2011 I decided to keep my blog going and publish my own book on it to learn as much as I can.

I now live in a beautiful place with friends and family close by.

I have learned to relax, meditate, and become the stress free - financially Independent woman that I admire.

My relationship with God has grown beyond what I could imagine and the blessings he has given are praise worthy.

I am so organized that others ask for my help and are willing to pay me for my ideas and help.

I wrote my eBook and book and published them myself. You can too!

My new saying is: “if you do not want to go to Heaven with me, I am not going to HELL with YOU.” If you need help please ask me before it’s too late.

My love life is super wonderful.

My life is exactly as my dream board predicted and gave to me.

I am now in abundance and inflow of new found friends who care about me..

Finally, My face finally got help from the proper doctor for 100% healing, thank you and praise God.

AMEN

Topic #190 The Perfect Storm MOVIE

Can a movie be better than the book it was based on?

Topic #190:

Can a movie be better than the book it was based on? What examples come to mind? Or is it sometimes just a matter of which version you see first, as that will define the story for you, regardless of which version was made first?

THE PERFECT STORM MOVIE VS BOOK REVIEW

<object width=”560″ height=”349″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/jmX3TK7U5K4?version=3&hl=en_US”></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param></object>

The BOOK can be found on Amazon.com

I loved the book better than the movie because of the details. I remember the one scene in the book where it tells of how one can drowned in the sea and I never knew about it. It is one thing that I fear, even as I know how to swim. I love real stories so the book was better than the movie on this.

I love to be by the window if I travel by train, air, or car. I love to see the view of nature and just what is going on around me.

Topic #165 When was the last time you changed your mind?

Today’s Topic at http://dailypost.wordpress.com/ is

When was the last time you changed your mind?

Topic #165:

When was the last time you changed your mind?

I did not want to post today on this topic so I “changed my mind” and decided to make a creative post on “stairs.” I have no clue why other than I am fascinated with spiral stairs. Truthfully they don’t seem practical other than to create space or design. I, personally would not want to go up and down any of those spiral stairs. What about you? Okay, if for a day to learn about them that would be nice, but to deal with them daily, is just not my thing! I think I will enjoy looking at them in magazines and such and stay away from them. What about you?

TOPIC #125 Write about something you SEE

Write about something you see

Claire | May 13, 2011 at 10:59 pm | Tags: life, ME, postaday2011, third object | Categories: Disability, Life, ME, Post a Day 2011 | URL:http://wp.me/pPdPJ-dl

Topic #125:

1) Stand up 2) Turn to your right 3) Count objects you see, and stop at #3. 4)Write about whatever item #3 is.

via Write about something you see.

So the third thing that I can see is my magic reclining chair, which is an absolute godsend when my ME is bad and my muscles and joints are aching. It was organised by an OT and was measured to fit me. I wasn’t sure when she first talked about changing the chair I usually sat in - I thought it was comfortable and it reclined too, so how different could another one be, right?

How wrong I was! Two men delivered it from the mobility supplies store and brought it in in two pieces because it was so heavy. They put it together and showed me how it worked, not too complicated, one button for up, another for down - I could manage that.

The thing that’s really cool is that, not only does it recline all the way back, it actually goes all the way up so it helps you to stand. It’s incredible although you feel like you’re sitting on the Terminator and he’s standing you up. Creepy at first; but makes life so much easier!

Here is my post:
I have a cross stitch of roses on my wall directly in front of me and I love cross stitch art. A Photo is worth the words I would put down here. Comments welcome.

I LOVE COKE

What’s the most on fire you’ve ever been? Figuratively, literally, whatever.

What’s the most on fire you’ve ever been?

**********************************************************************************************

Good afternoon or evening; I will not take up much of your time as I just got off work (yes on Sundays I work).

I am beyond tired. I did want to share with you that when I accepted The Lord into my heart and life back

in 1990 was the most “on fire” I have ever been. I went out and bought a NIV bible I could udnerstand. I took

my bible with me everywhere, I taught what I was learning. I went to bible study groups sevearal times a week.

Here it is 2011 and I can say I am still on fire for the Lord, but I remember being a newbie christian and it was the

best time of my life learning.
